Understanding Your Health Metrics
Tracking your Body Mass Index (BMI) and Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) are foundational steps in any health and fitness journey. While BMI provides a quick assessment of weight relative to height, BMR and TDEE help you understand exactly how much energy your body needs to fuel your lifestyle.
BMI Categories & Risk Levels
| BMI Range | Category | Health Risk |
|---|---|---|
| Below 18.5 | Underweight | Increased |
| 18.5 â 24.9 | Normal Weight | Minimal |
| 25.0 â 29.9 | Overweight | Increased |
| 30.0 & Above | Obese | High |
What do BMR and TDEE mean?
- BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate): The minimum number of calories your body needs to maintain basic life functions (breathing, circulation) while at rest.
- TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure): An estimation of how many calories you burn per day based on your BMR and your specific physical activity level (Sedentary, Active, etc.).
